ASH Commends Congress for Reaching Spending Deal

Drawing on several decades of experience, Dr. Jagjit Tandon is a medical professional who serves as the director and CEO of Bradford Oncology, a practice he established in 2007. Throughout his career, Dr. Jagjit Tandon has been involved with several organizations, including the American Society of Hematology (ASH), which looks to advance blood disease research.

The non-profit recently responded to a $1.3 trillion federal spending deal passed by Congress in December for the coming fiscal year. ASH President Stephanie Lee, MD, welcomed the deal, with gives $8 billion in funding to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as $41.7 billion that will go to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Dr. Lee notes that both organizations play pivotal roles in advancing medical research, highlighting several advancements they have helped make in recent years, such as with curative gene therapy, among others. The ASH has also commended the fact that the allocated funding is an increase from the previous fiscal year.
